Plan a fairytale Valentine’s Day in Lisbon

Plan a fairytale Valentine’s Day in Lisbon

For some, February is just another cold, boring winter month. But lovers everywhere know that February 14th is a reference day for romance. Today, we would like to show you that Portugal, this mixture of dreamy air, modern-day simplicity and romanticism reminiscent of the Old World, is the best place to plan a fairy-tale Valentine’s Day in Lisbon.

The capital city of Portugal, Lisbon, is a wonderful place for romantic strolls down the winding cobblestone streets and candlelight dinners served in rustic restaurants. It is much more similar to France’s Paris than one would imagine, only more quiet and somehow warmer.

Here are a few places you can think of taking your loved ones on Valentine’s Day this year.

Inside Lisbon, there are museums, monuments and parks to see, but a view of the Vasco da Gama Bridge, one of the symbols of the city, is breathtaking and romantic at the same time.

A night in the city, enjoying a Portuguese evening in a beautiful restaurant, listening to the melancholy rhythms of the gentle Fado music, sipping a cup of Port wine and enjoying exquisite traditional food can also be a wonderful alternative.

Alfama is one of the oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods of the Portuguese capital city, perched on its highest hill. St George’s Castle, a Moorish medieval citadel, is one of the most wonderful sightseeing points.

A short drive outside Lisbon, in Sintra, there is a splendid fairy-tale castle just waiting to unravel its mysteries before your very eyes. Finished in the 19th century on the site of a medieval citadel, Pena Palace is an architectural wonder, a Disney-like multicolored prince and princesses castle.
