Destinations for June (part 3)

Destinations for June (part 3)

The month of June has just started so we will be concluding our look at destinations for June because we’re already there and you need to start planning.

The Lycian Way – Turkey

Turkey’s Turquoise coast start to heat up in June but thankfully the sun isn’t yet at full strength, which is good. You can follow sections of the 500km-long Lycian Way on foot and visit ancient ruins, pine forests, and towards glorious sandy beaches. We suggest you pack sturdy walking shoes, there are also campsites en route but you might also want to base yourself in a town and explore the region in day trips.

Points you might want to keep on your visiting list should be Oludeniz, Falaya, Patara and Kalkan.

Chicago – USA

Chicago is in something of a growth spurt, with a bunch of shiny new skyscrapers as well as a crop of plush hotels starting off a culinary revolution. After one of the worst winters on record, the locals are waiting for summer and a massive diary packed with events.

June comes with all sorts of festivals – literature, comedy, LGBT – but there’s one that takes top billing, the Chicago Blues Festival.

2014 is also a great year of celebration for locals because Wrigley Field – one of the countries oldest and beloved baseball parks – turns 100. This means that the park will be hosting a season of throwback games and parties.

Zagreb – Croatia

The month of June is a great time to visit Croatia‘s capital of Zagreb. The weather is warming up, the pavement cafes start to buzz with activity and lots of festivals start filling the streets with revellers.

The Cest is D’Best festival attract a variety of street performers from around the world, turning the entire city into a huge circus from 5 to 11 June; there’s also Ljeto na Strosu, which turns a leafy central street into a very quirky cultural hub with an outdoor cinema, concerts and art installations.

June is also when Croatia’s biggest music festival takes place, INmusic is a three-day lakeside extravaganza that attracts plenty of big-name bands.

Keep our worldwide car hire services in mind when planning to visit any of these places.
