Top 10 cities to explore in Germany

It is so difficult to talk of a country in general, to seek to find the best destinations to visit and assess a place with a cold eye, but without presuming to offer anything but a mere opinion and a point of view, here is today’s Top 10 cities to explore in Germany.
1. Munich is my own personal number one. This is because it is a green, happy city with amazing architecture and first class art galleries, museums and restaurants. It is the capital of Bavaria (or, as the locals call it, Bayern), the richest of all German lands. The famous Oktoberfest attracts over 6 million beer lovers – and other travelers – every autumn. It started in 1819. Don’t miss the Cathedral, the city walls and the royal palaces. See them all with Munich car rental, which you can book online.
2. During the Second World War, most German cities were destroyed. Fortunately, this wasn’t the case with Heidelberg, whose Old Town Center still survives, with its romantic air and grandiose Heidelberg Castle, home to the oldest German university. Couple this with the amazing views from the river bank and you get one of the most beautiful destinations in Germany. It’s a wonderful place to take pictures.
3. Berlin is more than the Berlin Wall. It is more than the rather grim history of a post-war divided Germany and an austere communist age. Berlin is the capital city of Germany today, an incredibly diverse and fascinating town, multi-cultural and historically relevant, known for its Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag. It is the biggest city in Germany. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the city began to recover its memory and its proud history. Berlin is recognized for its cosmopolitan air, but also for its lively nightlife. No visit to Germany could ever be complete without a stop here.
