Consider a Tenerife holiday
Despite the cold weather on half the planet, let’s go against the current for today and talk about a sunny destination – in fact one that’s rather sunny even now – the Canary Islands.
The island of Tenerife is a very good all-in-one type of destination, there are beaches of course, and great nightlife – both of which are very much boosted by the year-round sunshine, but there are also golf courses and options for all manner of other activities, such as diving, water sports and hiking.
One other great thing about this destination is the very wide array of accommodation available, from five-star hotels and spas to budget options, there’s something for everyone, from people with families to party revelers.
Those who are traveling with children, or who are just looking for a relatively quieter destination, might want to head for Los Cristianos where you can enjoy some imported golden sand, great promenades and a sheltered bay. This is a good option for those with children because there’s a nearby water park called Siam Park, ideal for the little ones.
A similar quiet destination is the northern village of Garachico, which will seem like it’s a different world than what you’ll find on the coastline. The area features naturally-formed pools of water as a result of ancient volcanic eruptions, and the Costa Adele is relatively nearby. Those of you interested in a bit more adventure can visit the Teide National Park where you can see the volcanic landscape in all of its splendor as well as hike the highest point in Spain.
On the other side of the coin, those who are looking for a very partying break, they’ll want to check out Playa de las Americas which features a plethora of bars and restaurants which line the beaches ready to serve anything from full-English breakfasts to Chinese.
