Planning Your Perfect Ski Trip – Mountago to the Rescue!

With over 2,000 ski resorts in the world, and all manner of different tour operators and options to consider, planning your perfect ski trip is far from the simple and straightforward process that it should be. Luckily this is all set to change with a brand new site launching this winter. We caught up with the team at Mountago to find out more about what’s in the pipeline and what this winter holds.

The story to date

Born out of a frustration with trying to plan ski trips each winter, Mountago aims to help skiers and snowboarders to find the perfect resort for them, including accommodations, bars and restaurants, instructors and much more, based on what people like you and me have to say. The beta site offered some great features including ski specific maps showing the location of businesses in relation to the lifts and pistes as well as resort review functionality and the ability to add photos, but the new version had a lot more in store…

There’s something in the water…

The team at Mountago have listened to their users and developed out the platform to really make the most of the social nature of the ski market. Having seen the new version in development, we can report that the new and enhanced User Profiles are awesome, helping people track where they have been and share recommendations and tips on the best places to go. Information on resorts is much better with the addition of detailed snow information and a resort finding tool based of what others have said about the resort will make a huge different to finding the right resort for you.

And Mountago isn’t just on the web. We have heard rumours of an app in development allowing users to find the best places to go and share their ski experience with friends and followers in resort. Details are patchy but we understand that offline mapping, checkin’s and detailed snow reporting will all be included in the app which should launch before the end of the year.

So what?

Having had a good look at the new site, we believe that Mountago will change the way that people plan, book and share their ski trips with friends. The existing site is great although a bit limited but with the full version on the way, we are very excited about what this winter will hold for Mountago!
