    Numerous domestic and foreign fireworks manufacturers take part, showcasing their spectacular displays of power. Maltese people have been involved in fireworks displays for a very long time.
    The fireworks were first brought to Malta in 1530 by the Knights of St. John, and they have since become an essential element of Maltese culture.
    It has become an annual event on the calendar, drawing large crowds to see the displays as domestic and international fireworks manufacturers compete in a technical and colorful competition to showcase their abilities.

    Original pieces by Maltese jazz pioneers, arranged for quintet by Dominic Galea, will be heard during the performance. Excerpts from the upcoming documentary, Strait Street to Abbey Road, are used to tell the stories. This feature film, directed by Cedric Vella, is an adaptation of Ġużè Camilleri’s biography of Tony Carr.

    The rich legacy that lies behind the St. Lawrence Complex’s doors is not well known. Count Roger founded the church as one of the original parishes. When the Order of St. John arrived in Malta in 1530, it was the First Conventual Church of that order. The newly elected Grand Master took the Solemn Oath at this very Church.
