Toulouse, a short tour guide

Would you like to travel to France? Good! Because today we are going to talk about Toulouse, a short tour guide.
“La vie en rose”, since Edith Piaf, has been a purely French concept. But did you actually imagine it could refer to a specific place in the country? That’s right: Toulouse! The rosy brick facades of the Toulouse buildings shine merrily and pink in the morning sun, giving the town the nickname of “The Pink City”.
Toulouse is the capital city of the Midi-Pyrenees region and the Haute-Garonne department. Halfway between the warm Mediterranean and the cool Atlantic Ocean, it lies close to the border with Spain, which accounts for its happy atmosphere and warm people. Toulouse is the 4th largest metropolitan area in France and a great economic hub. Thales Alenia Space, Airbus and one of the oldest universities in Europe are housed in town.
But above all, Toulouse is a great tourist destination. You can stay for a day, a week or a lifetime: Toulouse is a purely French place, a beautiful spot and a worthwhile attraction. The city is designed to be visited, there are countless tour guides available, but what I would personally recommend is to get a car from Toulouse car rental and travel through the city your own way at your own pace.
However, you will come across some prominent sites, so here is what you should be looking for:
– The Romanesque Basilique Saint-Sernin, built between the 11th and the 13th centuries.
– The promenade around the Place du Capitole, a place where you can enjoy visiting the best sites in town, such as the 16th-century defense tower, the Theatre and the Old Quarter.
– The fine arts Musee des Augustins is one of the best galleries in France, containing some of the best European masterpieces from the middle ages up to the 20th century.
