Jerez trip

Jerez trip

Your Jerez trip will have you visiting of the bigger cities in the region of Andalusia. The full name is Jerez de la Frontera and it is located on the Costa de la Luz. Even though this is one of the larger cities in the region, its population only exceeds two hundred thousand which isn’t a lot by most population standards, but for this region it’s one of the larger ones.

This provincial town is great for those who love their sherry, as the town is filled with various places that will offer free tastings of the reddish liquid. Sherry bodegas come in all sizes so if this is your drink of choice, or you just want to try it out for free, you’ll love Jerez.

Now stepping a bit away from the booze, the Catedral de San Salvador is one of the town’s most architecturally interesting buildings. It was built in the 18th century on the site of what used to be a mosque; it has some beautiful stained glass windows and while it may not be as richly decorated as other places of worship in the region, it is still a great place to just walk around and take it all in.

Then there’s of course the Alcazar, which definitely has to be visited. The local fortress/palace comes from the Moorish era, the start of the 10th century to be more exact, just like many other fortifications in the region. Even though the castle complex occupies a rather small surface area, it has a mosque – which has been used as a church – Arab baths, a few towers, gardens, cloistered patios, a camera obscura and the Palacio Villavicencio.

These are only a few examples of what you might be able to see and do while in Jerez de la Frontera, make no mistake about it, there are many more waiting for you, and the best way to see them is with the help of our Jerez car hire services especially since we offer Jerez Aiport car hire services as well.
